S.P.D. Fanfic #01

#01 Prologue
My name is Bobby Timmonds. I was born on June 3rd, 2002 in Reefside, California. I have two sisters named Jessie & Sandra and a dog named Max. I was your average computer geek who spent a lot of time on the computer & in front of the TV. I had some friends but they weren’t around much and that caused me to spend many weekends by myself.
One day, a few weeks after the start of my Freshman year of high school, a classmate of mine named Dan started trying to beat me up. I did my best to ignore him and I started looking for possible hiding places to avoid getting attacked. But he cornered me on my way to the computer lab during lunch and he & his cronies took me outside where they started beating me up. I tried to fight back but it was no use and I tried to reach for something to help me. Then something strange happened.
My arm extended close to six feet and I managed to grab a stick. I used the stick to fend off Dan & his goons and ran back into the school where I went to the office to inform Principal Mercer of what happened. I told her about Dan attacking me & my arm stretching to reach the stick and she acted like it wasn’t a big deal. She told me she’d call my parents and suggested I go to class. I asked if I could hangout in the office for the rest of the day instead because I didn’t want to be encounter Dan again. She said I could and she informed my teachers of where I was.
Over the next couple of weeks, word spread about my arm stretching and that caused the tormenting to get worse & worse. Even the extraterrestrials were calling me a freak of nature and that caused me to spend a lot more time in the office. Dr. Oliver, my science teacher, allowed me to seek refuge in his classroom and we performed some experiments to see just how far I could stretch during lunch. We’d do stuff like place a pencil on the far side of the room & I’d reach for it without moving my feet or, when the students were in a different part of the school, I’d reach for the highest branch of the tallest tree.
One day, Dr. Oliver asked me to come with him to the office where we saw my parents. I asked what they were doing at the school and they told me that they just had a meeting with Principal Mercer & that they had some news for me. I felt a bit nervous and reached for a trash can that was three feet away from me using my elasticity.
“Bobby, we had a meeting with your principal, who told us about you & Dr. Oliver experimenting with your newfound elastic abilities, and she told us about how the other students had been calling you a freak & stuff.” my mom said.
“And your mother & I have decided that you should enroll at the Space Patrol Delta Academy to put your new abilities to good use. You’ll still graduate from high school with your friends but you’ll also begin extensive training in apprehending criminals. With enough training, you could become a Power Ranger. It’s your choice, Bobby.” my dad said.
“Sure. It’d be cool to apprehend criminals & bring them to justice. Even though I doubt I have what it takes to be a Ranger. I’m in!” I said.
“Don’t worry, you could be a Ranger because you have heart. We won’t tell your sisters but we’ll let you stay until the end of the first semester.” my mom said.
“I’ll head back to work and make a call to Commander Anubis Cruger to let him know.” my dad said.
After that, I did my hardest to not get upset whenever one of my classmates would treat me like sludge. I had Dr. Oliver to go to from time to time and I kept reminding myself of that I was going to the S.P.D. Academy. It was really difficult to focus sometimes but I managed.
A few weeks later, I packed up my stuff and left to train at the S.P.D. Academy. I had brought everything in my room with me so I could feel comfortable. I brought my trading card collections, my root beer bottle collection, my other collections, my various books & comics, all of my CDs, etc. with me to Newtech City. My folks had rented a moving truck for me to haul all of my stuff & some cash for me to buy stuff and my dad drove it. My dad & I arrived in Newtech City and pulled up in front of the S.P.D. Academy in a couple of hours.
Once we pulled up, we were greeted by a big blue dog, who was obviously Commander Anubis Cruger, & a cute woman who had many feline characteristics. We got out of the truck and walked up to Commander Cruger. I shook his hand and we said “Hello” to each other.
“Bobby, I am Commander Cruger and this is Dr. Katherine Manx. She’s our chief scientist. She makes the weapons you will be trained to use.” Commander Cruger said.
“Call me Kat. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Bobby.” Dr. Manx said.
“It’s an honor, ma’am. This place is huge!” I said as I shook Dr. Manx’s hand and awed at the sight of the S.P.D. Academy.
“Would you like to see the rest of it?” Dr. Manx asked.
“Would I?!?” I said in excitement and we went inside as my dad went to unload the moving truck.
When we walked inside, I was in total awe of the technology and the various species working. Commander Cruger & Dr. Kat showed me the Command Center and they explained how the city was monitored. Dr. Kat showed me the S.P.D. Garage where the S.P.D. Vehicles were kept, and Commander Cruger showed me the briefing area where he would speak to the S.P.D. Cadets & Rangers. Next they showed me the Living Quarters where all of the cadets slept & lived when they weren’t training before they took me to the Common Room. Commander Cruger pointed out that the Common Room was where Cadets could relax, play games, watch TV, and socialize.
They took me to the Simulator Room and Dr. Kat explained it was used to train all S.P.D. Cadets and I thought it was cool. Down the hall was Dr. Kat’s lab where I met her assistant Boom. I shook Boom’s hand and he asked if I was the new recruit from Reefside. I said that I was and he said he flunked out but Commander Cruger saw potential in him & let him stay. I thought that was nice of Commander Cruger as a mechanical dog walked up to me. Instead of barking, it squealed like a pig and I asked why it did that. Dr. Kat explained that RIC (Robotic Interactive Canine) was built to assist S.P.D. but there seemed to be a problem with his circuitry & that was why he wasn’t barking like a normal dog. I thought it was funny as Dr. Kat also explained that she designed & built the weapons that all S.P.D. Cadets & Rangers would use in her lab. I saw some prototypes and asked if I could help her with some of it some time. Dr. Kat said that it’d be nice of me and they took me outside where we saw various humanoids sparring. Commander Cruger walked up to five young people, who appeared to be close to my age, and they did a weird salute. Commander Cruger said something to them and they approached me & Dr. Kat with Commander Cruger.
“Cadets, this is Bobby Timmonds. He hails from Reefside and he will be joining your team. Introduce yourselves and tell him what you can do.” Commander Cruger said.
“I’m Bridge Carson. I can use psychic abilities to track down criminals.” the dude with spiky hair said as he shook my hand.
“I’m Austin Dane. I can fly.” the guy shoulder length hair said as he shook my hand.
“I’m Charlene Yoshi. I shoot lasers out of my eyes.” the Asian girl said as she shook my hand.
“Hi, I’m Sydney Drew. I can turn my hands into any element I touch.” the cute blonde girl said as she shook my hand.
“My name’s Sky Tate. I can create force fields with my mind. My dad was a Red Ranger & I hope to be just like him.” the tall guy said as he shook my hand.
“Nice to meet you guys. I can stretch any part of my body. Comes in handy when you need something out of arms length & with cleaning.” I said.
“Cadets, please show Bobby to his quarters and help him get settled in. Your training begins first thing tomorrow. Dismissed!” Commander Cruger said.
“Yes, Sir!” Sky said and my new friends & I went to haul all of my stuff in as I said “goodbye” to my dad.
I got to know my fellow cadets as they helped me move stuff into my quarters as we listened to some of my CD collection. They also showed me their special powers as we set things up. Sydney used her elemental touch to help me hang some framed pictures on the wall by turning her hands into iron to hammer the nails in and I used my stretching abilities to help Austin, who was flying, hang some of my things from the ceiling. Sky swung his arm around to create a force field so he could push some stuff out of the way and Charlene helped me weld my bed frame together. I thanked my friends and I gave them some sodas I had brought from home and Bridge showed me how he used his psychic tracking abilities.
Training began immediately the next day and it was both fun & difficult. We worked with using various weapons, including our primary sidearm the S.P.D. Civilian Blaster, hand-to-hand combat, and working together as a team by utilizing our powers to apprehend criminals. The six of us did so well that Commander Cruger promoted us to B Squad Cadets, which made us the next in line to become Power Rangers, the following year.
I developed a tiny crush on Sydney and became best friends with Bridge because we both were very intelligent & liked building things. Sky was frequently acting like an egomaniac as he continued to brag about how his dad was a Red Ranger but I got used to him. Charlene & Austin were cool to talk to about almost any & everything and I found that to be spectacular. Boom was a bit clumsy and always good for a laugh. I spent a lot of time in my quarters working on my computer designing new weapons, based on the prototypes I saw, for my fellow B Squad Cadets and saved it for when we’d eventually become Power Rangers.

Blue Madison at PUAO. She said "The part where Jack & Bridge were standing on their heads" as her favorite part of a story that I didn't put in.
